Skip Hire South London

Your South London skip can be placed anywhere on private property that you own or have permission to use if it is accessible by our delivery drivers. If you are looking to place a skip on public areas such as a road or pavement, you will need a skip permit from your local council.

If you are placing a skip on private land such as a driveway or a garden, you will not need to obtain a skip permit. However, if you need to place your skip on a public road, you will require a skip permit from your local council. It is illegal to place a skip on a public road or pavement without permission. Preparing for your skip’s arrival is simple, you just need to ensure there is adequate space in the area you wish to put the skip and that the space is fully accessible by one of our skip lorries for both delivery and collection.

Different councils charge different amounts, but it generally costs between £30 and £50 for a permit to place a skip on the road.

This is entirely up to you, but the normal hire duration is between 1 and 14 days which is included in our standard charge, if you would like it for longer, please let us know and we can arrange a longer hire period. Please bear in mind if your skip is on the road you will need to check the length covered by your permit.

Give us a call to let us know the skip is ready for collection and one our drivers will come to collect it, usually within 48 hours. The skip is then taken to a waste transfer station where it will be processed for recycling.

The waste is taken to a licensed disposal facility where it is sorted and processed to maximise recycling and minimise the amount of waste that is sent to landfill.

By law, skips must be loaded no higher than the sides of the skip. The use of boards to build the sides up is prohibited. Most importantly, the skip must be loaded securely and responsibly so that it is safe for road transport. Any skips that are overloaded will incur an extra charge.

Due to the weight of the skips and the stabilising equipment of the lorry, damage is sometimes possible. However, our drivers are trained to minimise the risk. If you are concerned about the possibility of damage, please mention it at the time of booking.

At Speedy Skip Hire we always aim to deliver or collect your skip as fast as possible, generally this is the same day you call, but if we are too busy, we will always deliver, collect or exchange your skip the next day. *Tip – The earlier in the day that you call us, the better the chances of a same day service.

If your payment is taken via debit/credit card you will not need to be at the property, as long as there is a space clear and accessible to place and/ or collect the skip from the driver is fully trained and able to undertake the delivery and collection by themselves.
